So, I reset the TCP/IP stack, and at present the problem is appearing a little dissimilar. The Vista machine connects to the Drome just fine, first-class signal strength. When I am in network settings, it shows a good connexion between the computer and the Airdrome, but it shows the Airport is non continued to the modem. I know the Airport is working fine because I am sitting here replying to this on one of the two Macs on this network. I am almost to try disabling IPv6 and the DHCP Broadcast flag, or does this merely seem to exist looking similar a hardware malfunction? The internet was working for two days, and and so information technology only stopped.

One more than update.
I did everything recommended in this thread up, and realized the problem is not with the network. I connected directly to the modem, restarted the computer and modem, manifestly no internet. So I went into control panel, and the computer says it is connected to the cyberspace. It won't allow me diagnose anything if the calculator thinks there is a connection. Is it possible that when the computer crashed, it took out a piece of hardware in such a manner that Vista knows its connected to the internet with a good point, but at that place is a piece of hardware non assuasive in/out transmissions? Anything? I don't want her to have to take information technology in somewhere to pay money and find out it is a simple setting that reconfigured when the computer crashed.
I must say, I have a lot of respect for the people that work on and maintain windows machines everyday, these things are a pain to fifty-fifty figure out what is wrong, permit alone set a problem.

Okay, I ran into this issue just with Machines running vista and with wirless and wired connections And they did see total connections and said express connectivity or access it was confusing the ____ out of me ! the computers seen the router but didnt desire to become past information technology this is a dns issue and THIS ALL HAPPEND Subsequently A FEW UPGRADES AND I BELEIVE ITS IN SERVICE PACK Ii !!!!!!, What i did was went into the router and wrote down the dns servers and staticaly put in the ip add together and dns servers in the network cards ip proporties .information technology worked fine.got on line and the neowrk discovery was a.o.kay only it wasent good enough the router should do this on its own being that dchp is enabled on the router. going into the registry and enable and disable the dhcp brocast flags didnt seem to solve the problem. being that vista per say does not like non microsoft dhcp/routers. Being that its designed to run very efficient in a Total microsoft environment pulling packets from microsoft dhcp/dns servers. The poblem is the router it might need a firmware upgrade being that Vista uses newer protocols over the basic TCP/IP that almost routers older than vista use . So staicaly placing the ip add together and dns servers seemed to practise the trick . . Your firmware upgrade might accept these protocols and avoid the issues with vista not accepting the dhcp packets request. Or you lot could just go to the network and security center and then get to manage connections right click on the connection get to properties and and then to tcp/ip version four so to proporties click the button for Apply the following ip adress and do the aforementioned for the dns servers put in the ip adress its prob gonna be like this ip 192.168.1xx. netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.ane.1 then dns servers 8.90.2.3. 8.90.ii.4 dns example dont know your servers those dns numbers are for illustrate purpose just do not put those in . then click okay. and so you should be on the net........ you lot will see that y'all will have full connection to the net with in the networking and sharing center. You could get out it this mode it volition piece of work just fine. Just in one case i got online i then i plant the firmware upgrade for my Linksys router downloaded it then installed it and and so went back to put all nics wireless and wired back to full DHCP and everything is running fine..... now..........no bug......

My vista machine woke upwardly i day from hibernation and decided it could no longer identify my wired network. I've tried a number of other fixes, including modifying my registry, and they do non work. How can I get in to see the DNS servers (I'm hooked upwards to a Motorola (don't know exactly what model, I'thou not home at the moment to wait) cable modem)? Will I have to infringe someone else'due south computer and hook it upwards to see this?

I've tried everything in this thread and am still having this issue. I am going to try and back out SP2 and meet what happens. What do you all think?

I am using internet sharing with a MAC.
I disabled the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista, now tin can access wireless internet.

Expert Afternoon Everybody,
I take an old Vista Gateway laptop (ix years old) that hasn't been able to connect to the internet since October 2016. I didn't requite it much thought since I knew Microsoft was killing support in a few months. And then final week before I moved iTunes to my new Dell Inspiron laptop I tried going online 1 last time to update everything but withal aught; even at present as I write this, zilch.
And then, does anyone know what happened back in October 2016 (some update perhaps) that may accept caused this problem? I'thou willing to give this Registry edit a try merely I would rather apply a confirmed procedure rather than some off-the-cuff endeavor that works for some just non for others.
What I don't need is someone pretending to be a Microsoft Engineer or someone with no know-how giving assist that isn't the solution but more of the problem. I repent for the snarky comment merely I've grown very tired of being led around on wild goose chases on these forums past people who don't have a clue to what's going on merely continuously pat themselves on their backs with their impressive Microsoft credentials and useless help from the comfort of their parent'south basement.
